Roamin’ Eastern Iowa – a general photo album

Damon Bridge, north of Preston

Sometimes I find myself wandering around places for a specific reason, but just can’t quite build the legs to make them dedicated Cody’s Road Trip posts. Yet.

Such photos typically linger on my computer and collect dust. Perhaps one day they’ll be part of a dedicated photo album with a dedicated article. Just not now. I can’t just let them sit. So they will be put into geographic “general photo albums” until they get “promoted” to a dedicated article.

For example, I found myself wandering around Eastern Iowa on two random days in January 2026. In these cases, I was either en route between work assignments, or taking a break from one before returning to it. On one occasion, I had a large gap in time between assignments in Savanna, Illinois. The other was a large break during one assignment in Galena. I kill that time to explore – clocking out from work on each occasion.

As of February 2026, I have a couple of dedicated posts to multi-stop travels in Eastern Iowa. One is a journey down state Route 136 from Clinton to Dyersville (and a dedicated stop at the National Farm Toy Museum); another is a series of stops around Clinton and Scott counties. In both cases, there was enough to turn them into dedicated posts.

These January 2026 stops could become dedicated articles upon one more visit to these places, which is likely to happen at some point. Meanwhile, we have the Roamin’ Eastern Iowa general photo album.

January 2026 stops include:

• Exotic Snack Guys at Kennedy Mall in Dubuque – where foreign flavors of American snack food products are sold. (7 pictures – toggle right to browse further)

• Circle C Saloon in LaMotte – home of a breakfast burger and town history. (7 pictures)

• Jackson County Poor Farm area – one limestone building remains. (4 pictures)

• A scenic drive from LaMotte to Bellevue. (5 pictures)

More possibly coming soon!
